Because of the chosen material they are resistant against almost any fluid. The filter screen has got a great surface area and can be easily cleaned which makes them very cost effective. The mesh size is variable from 0.025mm - 20mm. These mesh sizes are mostly squared but are also available in rectangle mesh. The wire diameters are variable from 0.025 mm up to 2 mm.
